Sarah Jane Series 1 Boxset - Released

Today, the first series of The Sarah Jane Adventures, the spin-off of Doctor Who for younger readers, has been released on a box-set DVD. This DVD is quite late, as we are already well into the second series, but at least it's arrived at shops now! Every episode of the first series is included, as well as the 2007 new-year special, Invasion of the Bane. The other stories are Revenge of the Slitheen, Eye of the Gorgon, Warriors of Kudlak, Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane? and The Lost Boy. The DVD is also packed with special features to keep you entertained for quite a while! The DVD is out now across all good shops in the UK and Ireland at the RRP price of £24.99, with four discs and an age rating of PG. You can view the full cover here!

All Change...

Well, this actually happens to be a number of posts I could have done, but I've combined them, as they are all, in a matter of speaking related. I'm just thinking on the topic of 2010. To be honest, everything will be completely new and different. 

We have Russell T. Davies leaving, the amazing head-writer of Doctor Who, who has provided us over these four years with scary and action action-packed to sad and emotional scripts. Producer Phil Collinson left a while ago, to move to Manchester, and had been at the very heart of the show since 2005. He will not be producing the specials. Instead, we have Tracie Simpson and Nikki Smith, and then Piers Wenger for the fifth series. Then we also have Julie Gardner, moving on after 2009, who has also been on the team for the whole of the new series. 

The biggest change is David Tennant, the tenth Doctor. That's all I can really say about him really, because you all know the sad news. So, who will be the next Doctor? The answer to the question everybody want to know is... we don't know! Rumours have been flying around over the internet. Some good suggestions, but others are just ridiculous. Even people who have been on the show before! James Nesbitt, one of the actors speculated to take the role in 2010, has recently denied the rumour, saying that it would be "career suicide to step into the shoes of Tennant". It is true in fact, that Doctor Who does change your life, and that is partly why David Tennant wanted to leave. It's not that he actually wants to leave, it's that the producers will be having to pull him away from the Tardis, when he reaches the age of 90 or so! 

More recently, the Sun have published an article, saying that the show might have a black Doctor, a completely new direction to go in! They said that the BBC was near the stage of signing Colin Salmon, Doctor Moon in the Library two-parter this year, and more renowned for his role in the James Bond films. Colin has not yet announced that he will or won't, but seeing as only the Sun have published the news, it seems very, very unlikely. More so, as the BBC have also denied it. (they must get very fed up with the Sun). But not so unlikely of a black Doctor.

The BBC have denied that the new Doctor will be announced on Children in Need this Friday, after Terry Wogan's remark that he might be. Of course, he was most likely just fibbing to see how many sources would pick up on the story, and it worked! Instead, they will announce the casting early next year.

Another big change will be Murray Gold. This has not been officially confirmed yet, but the outstanding composer may be leaving the show after the specials next year! He has provided us with the best music in the universe for the dazzling show, but will the show suffer with a new composer? Yes, the show is about change, but it seems that nearly everything is changing, apart from we know the Doctor will be zooming round the universe in his little blue box, and the show may still be called Doctor Who. And God knows who the next companion will be...

Hopefully new showrunner, Steven Moffat, will have a positive contribution to the show, and take it into a fantastic new direction...

Sobek's Skull

Tonight, the fourth episode of the second series of the new eighth Doctor audios will be broadcast on BBC Radio 7. The episode is called The Skull of Sobek, and is written by Marc Platt. It is directed by Barnaby Edwards, and the executive producer is Nicholas Briggs. The Doctor is played by Paul McGann, with companion Lucie Miller, played by Sheridan Smith. Other guest stars include Art Malik, Barbara Flynn, Giles Watling, Sean Biggerstaff, Mikey O'Connor and Katarina Olsson. You can view the synopsis below;

On the isolated planet of Indigo 3, far out in the wastes of the Blue Desert, lies the Sanctuary of Imperfect Symmetry. It is a place of contemplation and reflection. It is also a place of death.
Something from another time, from another world, has found its way inside the hallowed walls. Something with a leathery hide, a long snout and sharp pointy teeth.
Tick tock. Here comes the crocodile...

 It will air at six o'clock tonight on BBC Radio 7, and the next story will be The Zygon that Fell To Earth, broadcast at the same time next Sunday. A Dalek Is Cast

Torchwood Magazine, released last Thursday, has confirmed that a familiar face, or voice, has been cast in the third series of Torchwood, entitled Children of Earth. That person is Nick Briggs, and you should know him, because he is most well known now for doing all the voices of the Daleks for the whole of the new series. He doesn't just do Daleks either. He voices the Cybermen, Judoon and also the Nestene Consciousness. Nick Briggs will be appearing in the flesh, instead of just his voice being heard, but it has not yet been announced the character he will play. Peter Bennett said, "He gave a spectacular audition, but I'll keep you guessing about who he'll be playing for a little while yet." It is fantastic when we don't see the full face of actors who take roles in Doctor Who and it's spin-offs, because they can come in at any time, and the viewers might not even know who he is. And even if they have appeared before, like Gwen, it's all Sci-Fi, so anything can happen!

"I know that Russell, Julie and Andy have always appreciated Nick's acting talents. They have been keeping an eye out for the right part for him over the years, and finally the time has come!"

Another cast member has also been revealed to be played by Nicholas Farrell. Farrell played Aubrey in Chariots of Fire, and more recent films like Pearl Harbour and Amazing Grace.

New Berserker Trailer

A new trailer for the second part of the Sarah Jane Adventures story, The Mark of the Berserker, is now broadcasting in adverts on the CBBC channel. This is thought to be a new TV trailer, showing short parts of the cinema trailer as well. The trailer shows various new clips of the second episode, including a three-eyed giant slug, and Maria and her Dad talking through a webcam from America. There had been rumours that this wasn't the last time we'd see Maria, so now we know that it is true. You can see the video below. The episode will premiere on the CBBC channel on Monday at 5:15pm, and for those non-digital viewers, you can watch it a week later at 4:35pm on BBC One.

Listen to the Music...

Some very kind user on YouTube has bought the soundtrack already of Silva Screen Records and has uploaded all the tracks so we can hear them. The same person let us hear the Torchwood Soundtrack early as well! This is great if you are still waiting for the soundtrack to be released, so you can hear all your favourite tracks a bit earlier. But, you may not want to listen to them, if you want to hear it for the first time, when you buy it. Doctor Who Adventures 89

This week's issue of Doctor Who Adventures, issue 89, was released today around the UK. The magazine costs £2.10, and comes free with a pull-back Dalek and Dalek stickers. Posters inside include The Doctor, The Sarah Jane Adventures gang and two Daleks. Inside is a feature on The Doctor's Daughter, Jenny, and other people from the Doctor's family, a quiz to find out in which family you belong, more from The Sarah Jane Adventures, plus a mini-mag all about the Tardis! Battles In Time - 57 & 58

Remember, the collection goes up to issue 60, and not 52, as it was revealed a couple of months back, so there will only be two more issues after this until it stops. Site: Page Updates & The Classic Challenge

Over the next few months, during November, December and January, there will be updates to all the pages on the site. For the pages, there will be no 'major changes' as such. Like character files, and spacestation files, in which they will have all the needed files posted on them. This was due to happen nearer Christmas-time, and so this is it. When new postings are made on the pages, they will still be able to access, but every page won't be for a short while. On by one, I will be just updating, tidying things up, and making them just right, which I have been wanting to do, as there are just a few things here and there I need to do. Only one page will be closed at a time, and should be for only a week or less. Don't think that this is a massive update though, because it's not. All it does is just help me out, because at the moment I can just see a few loose ends. At the moment, the doctor who episode guide page is closed, but should be open again on next Saturday evening, or earlier. For those with site reviews that need doing, have no fear. They will be completed within the next week, I hope. One big thing I will be working on though, is the classic series page. I am making guides for every story of the classic series. This is quite a big challenge, because there are loads of stories, and will take a long time to do. Two have already been completed, and you can visit the page here! I hope this information is useful for reference.

The Series 2 Guide

Today, the Doctor Who BBC Site is being updated for Series 3. Late last month, the third series was put on the site, after the fourth series, which had started in April. From April we have had many videos, pictures, concept designs and fact files, uploaded onto the site after each episode of Series 4. They promised earlier this year, that all series will be put on, and now we have another update. Everything has been on the old site, which has been avaliable on the old site since the new one opened.  There are lots new features, as well as the old stuff in the same format. "In addition to the existing content, with all the video now in high quality Flash format, we have added brand new Fact Files, Screensavers and artwork from the Graphics team." The At this time, the guides are unavaliable, because they haven't finished them yet, but you should be able to see it later today. To visit the site, click here. The homepage now shows a great picture with monsters and backgrounds from the series, including the Doctor and Rose.
