Doctor and Rose Face the End

SCIENCE fiction fans will be watching for the look of love on Doctor Who’s face when he is reunited with former sidekick Rose Tyler.

The series’ penultimate episode at 7.10pm tonight will see David Tennant’s Time Lord meet Rose for the first time since she became trapped in an alternative universe.

Talk of a possible romance between the pair heightened at the end of series two, when the Doctor did not have chance to reply after Rose said she loved him.

Since then, there have been brief glimpses of Rose during a crowd scene and on a background television screen before her return to help reunite sidekick Donna Noble with the Doctor last week.

But tonight the pair see each other once again – a moment Radio Times has compared to a joyful reunion in an old Hollywood movie.

Russell T Davies has already quashed rumours of Rose and the Doctor becoming an item but said tonight’s episode would be an important installment.

He said: “She was always very special to him, but I don’t think he realises how much until he learns of her return.”

He said the Doctor’s response to Rose’s declaration of love could be revealed in next week’s finale.
