The Last Sontaran - Part 1 - Overnight Ratings

The picture above was made by me
The overnight ratings for the first part of The Sarah Jane Adventures story, The Last Sontaran, have now been released. The episode, broadcast yesterday at 4:35pm on BBC One, gained an audience of 0.7 million, with a 6.3% share of the audience. Now, I know this doesn't look a lot, but the normal average audience for the time slot is around 0.4 million viewers, so it's not too bad! Hopefully the ratings will go up during the series, so we'll have to wait and see!

The Best Magazine Cover Of All Time...

The picture above was edited by me

The Vote Dalek Radio Times cover has won the award for the best Bristish magazine cover of all time! The poll has been held for a while, made by the Periodical Publishers Association, and the results are now in. The cover was up against strong competition from Vogue, The Face and OK! The cover, featuring Daleks upon Westminster Bridge outside the Houses of Parliament, was made for the week 30th April to 6th May, which was the time when Series 1 episode, Dalek was on, and the British General Election. The cover also featured the snappy line, Vote Dalek!, which tied in with the fun of the cover. The importance of the series one story, was that it was the first Dalek story in sixteen years, and, of course, the General Election is important! The Guardian said that the cover received over a quarter of the 10,000 votes cast in the public vote! Gill Hudson, editor of the Radio Times, said "It was a very complex cover to put together; simply getting Daleks onto Westminster Bridge at night was very challenging."
What do you think of this win?

The Last Sontaran - What Did You Think?

The picture above was made by me

The second series of The Sarah Jane Adventures burst back onto our screens today, with a truly thrilling tale! The first part of the first story, The Last Sontaran, was shown at 4:35pm on BBC One. If you had seen it, you would be greeted by an invisible Sontaran, with a very cool helmet mechanism, mysterious lights in the sky, a hypnotized scientist and a woman, who goes by the name of Sarah Jane, get shot! If you missed the episode, or would like to watch it again, if you haven't recorded it you can see it here on iPlayer. But what did you think? Say what you thought of the episode in the comments or in the chat box. I thought it was a fantastic season-opener! If you were lucky enough to have digital viewing (like me!), then you would have seen the second part of it, but I won't say anything about that just yet on here for those of you who don't want to be spoiled.

Times Russell T. Davies SJA Interview
A new interview with Russell T. Davies has been posted on Times Online, talking about Davies' views on The Sarah Jane Adventures;
How dark can it get?
"Kids love dark. I think it’s only adults watching who worry about that. Harry Potter gets as dark as hell in some places. All the great fairytales and myths are full of loss and longing. You’re an idiot if you remember childhood as just laughing, running about and having a good time. But I think it’s a job of good children’s drama to include the full range of emotions, which also includes happiness."

You can read the full interview here!

Earl's Court Exhibition - Super Davros Top Trumps Card
The Earl's Court Exhibition in London are giving away Super Davros Top Trumps cards away with entry. The cards can be used in the classic series set, and originally came in the fourth volume of Series 4 DVD.

BBC Audiobooks, the Makers of the new exclusive audio adventure, The Forever Trap, have released the synopsis for the story. The CD features the Doctor and Donna, and will be read by Catherine Tate, who plays Donna Noble in the new series. You can view the cover of it to the left, and read synopsis below;
Catherine Tate reads this exclusive thrilling story, in which the Doctor and Donna are imprisoned on the Edifice - and become neighbours to a terrifying assortment of aliens. When the Tardis is invaded by a holographic marketing scam, the Doctor and Donna find themselves trapped on the Edifice, a purpose-built complex of luxury apartments in space. Their new environs leave much to be desired: millions of beings from across the Universe have been gathered to live side by side in similar apartments. Instead of creating neighbourly affection, it's led to terrible battles being waged in the corridors and on the stairwells.
This audiobook follows on from the success of the first one, Pest Control, released earlier, which was read by David Tennant. The Forever Trap will be released on 9th October 2008, and go on sale at the RRP price of £9.99.

A Return For The Trickster And Other SJA News

News from the Radio Times, that was out yesterday, has nearly confirmed the return of one of the more popular villians from last series of The Sarah Jane Adventures, back into the second series. Radio Times had a special feature for the second series, with a two page spread, with a behind the scenes look at Sarah Jane's attic. On one of the features, it talked about the 'Trickster's Cube'. It said that it would light up again this series, to give a warning that it may be out to seek revenge. The Trickster featured in one story last year, Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane? and managed to zap Sarah Jane out of existence, so that another could live while she died, causing chaos. Also with a little help from the Graske, they nearly let a falling meteorite fall on the Earth, destroying it. After that story, he used one of his brigade, the Time Beetle, to do the same with the Doctor in Donna's parallel world, in Turn Left. We don't know yet whether he will feature this series, or if it's a warning at the end for next series (if there is one), and whether the Graske will be helping him.
Also from the special feature in RT, we know that in the fifth story, Sarah Jane will travel back in time to see her parents, Barbara and Eddie Smith, who died in 1951. That story will be called The Temptation of Sarah Jane Smith.
In the fourth story, something will happen to do with a mysterious silver tin, Mr. Smith will have a different 'logo' on his screen, and K9 is actually defending the planet from a black hole from the scientists in Switzerland, also known as CERN, with their Large Hadron Collider experiment. News recently has been released that they've had to bring the experiment to a halt, because of magnet problems, and is now postponed until Spring 2009!
You can view scans of the two pages from the Radio Times here and here!

'The Next Doctor' At Xmas

The title for the Christmas Special has at long last been revealed. Not so long ago has the Sun, and a few other newspapers reported the correct title, as well as it being said in Russell T. Davies' new book, The Writer's Tale. So, here it is. The official title for the Christmas Special of Doctor Who 2008 is
The Next Doctor
Sorry if somebody hates these kinds of spoilers, but this is unmissable, and the chances are that you would have heard it somewhere else anyway! So, what do you think? Is the title actually that good, or have they come up with better in the past?

In other news, there will be a new Doctor Who exhibition in Coventry, in their Transport Museum. "This is Really fantastic news for the Coventry Transport Museum and the city. We knew that the Exhibition was touring around the country and had been in some museums, so I contacted them to ask if Coventry would be a suitable location." The new exhibition will be open from 13th march 2009. You can read more on the story here.

SJA - The Last Sontaran - Digital Spy

Digital Spy have released more information regarding the first story of the second series of The Sarah Jane Adventures, which includes some facts. Included in these bullet points there is one red herring for each part, like they did for the Doctor Who episodes last series. So which ones are they? But, without further ado, here is their information about The Last Sontaran;

The Last Sontaran - Part One
The legendary Sarah Jane Smith and her young gang of fellow nosey parkers are back for more adventures. Like last year, a familiar foe from the Whoniverse is in town with a cunning plan for global domination. Can a lone Sontaran succeed where the Slitheen failed? Catch the impressive opening episode to find out, but here are a few spoilers - plus one red herring - to keep you going in the meantime.
  • Sarah Jane uses her sonic lipstick on a Sontaran ship.
  • Clyde and Luke use Mr. Smith for computer games.
  • The Rutans pop up during the episode.
  • Sarah Jane speaks to old friend Sir Alastair on the phone to find out a vital piece of information.
  • A Sontaran is accused of being a fan of the Arnold Schwarzenegger Conan movie franchise.
  • A Predator-style cloaking device is deployed in Goblin's Copse
  • Maria's dad Alan receives a very important letter.

The Last Sontaran - Part 2
The stakes are high during the concluding part of the season's opening story, as Sarah Jane and her pals are holed up in the radio telescope centre. There's plenty of chasing around corridors to pad out the episode, but can you hunt down the red herring amongst the following spoilers?

  • Sarah Jane is shot.
  • One of Maria's parents doesn't survive the episode.
  • Luke has a gas problem.
  • Chrissy meets Mr. Smith.
  • A Sleeper Agent is on the loose.
  • Law Three of Sontaran Battle: Always have a Plan B.
  • A Sontaran's stumpy fingers are used to thwart the alien invader.

The Scene That Was DELETED!

In Russell T. Davies' new book, The Writer's Tale, there is another exclusive bit, which talks about the deleted scene that could have appeared at the end of last season's Journey's End! You can see two pictures from the book below, showing two pictures, one looks like a screencap, and the other, a behind-the-scenes photo. Both have the Doctor in the Tardis, presumably at the end of last season, maybe staring at the Tardis viewscreen? With two plain Cybermen standing behind him. It would have been the usual end-of-season lead into the Christmas Special, but this year deemed unsuitable by the production team, despite everyone knowing that the metal menaces were going to be in it long beforehand. We still don't know the exact reason why they did not put it in. but don't worry, as we'll still see it, as the scene will be included in the Series 4 Box-set, out in November, but the Christmas Special might not have the scene at all on Xmas day. See the pictures below;

Bon Anniversaire Billie!

Sorry about the French title, as I wanted the name of the post slightly different here, rather than 'Happy Birthday Billie!' or like. I you can read French, then you'll probably have realised that today, the twenty-second of September, is a very special day for Doctor Who actress, Billie Piper! She has starred as Rose Tyler in thirty episodes of Doctor Who, the earliest being in the first episode of Series 1, Rose, and the latest being Journey's End. Today marks her twenty-sixth anniversary after she was born. Billie had started of in the singing industry, but has moved on to many other TV programmes, films and plays. Recently she has starred in the adapted version of a Secret Diary of a Call Girl, but be warned young ones, as it does contain lots of adult material. She has grown a lot in the world recently, and is becoming a lot more well-known. Here at adventures through time and space, we would like to wish Billie a very happy birthday, and hope to see more of her in the future!

SJA - Series 2 Preview Special

A lot more information has been released about the second series of The Sarah Jane Adventures on Digital Spy. It contains quite a lot of new information, but also rumours and other things that can now officially be confirmed, including Maria might be returning again later in the series and finale information. There is also an exclusive video which you can watch here., which features Juliet Cowan, who plays Maria's mother, Chrissie, talking about the series. You can view all the new information below;

Goodbye Maria...
In the second episode we wave goodbye to original gang member Maria Jackson (Yasmin Paige), her dad Alan (Joseph Millson) and her mum Chrissie (Juliet Cowan). Maria is forced to bid farewell to the group after Alan lands a new job in the US. Chrissie doesn't go with them but will no longer feature in the show. We caught up with Juliet Cowan last week to get her take on the Jackson family's departure. Click 'play' below to watch:
On hearing the news of Maria's departure, Sarah Jane has a funny turn and starts to blank the youngster. "People have left Sarah Jane's life over the years, and never come back," explains Elisabeth Sladen (Sarah Jane). "All of a sudden, she's left herself open to someone that she's very fond of, and she puts up a wall." Eventually SJ sees the error of her ways and helps give Maria the send-off she deserves.
For those who asked, Maria is off the regular cast but be assured that it definitely isn't the last we see of her (or Alan) this series.

...Hello Rani!
No sooner has Maria been shipped off in a taxi than a new female character is on the scene. Rani (Anjli Mohindra) arrives in episode three as the daughter of new school headmaster Mr. Chandra (Ace Bhatti) and immediately starts poking her nose into the business of Sarah Jane & co. And before too long she becomes a fully paid-up member of the team. Click here to read our recent interview with the new girl if you haven't seen it already!

The Episodes
Once again each Sarah Jane "story" comes in two episodes, with a total of twelve episodes in the series (up from ten in the first series). The titles of the six stories are:

1. The Last Sontaran
2. The Day Of The Clown
3. Secrets Of The Stars
4. The Mark Of The Berserker
5. The Temptation Of Sarah Jane Smith
6. Enemy Of The Bane

The Enemies
As the title of the first story suggests, the Sontarans (last seen in Who series four) are back again in this series. The gang happen across the last remaining Sontaran, Commander Kaagh, wandering around the forest and must thwart his plan to destroy the Earth with kamikaze satellites.
In story two we meet Odd Bob The Clown, played by Bradley Walsh, who is stalking new girl Rani. "This clown transforms into different things," Tom Knight (Luke) tells me. "For each transformation Bradley does a different accent - it's very funny."
He adds: "We have other enemies too. Some guy turns evil - he finds this medallion and it turns him crazy! It's all about mishandling power."
Evil schemer Mrs Wormwood (Samantha Bond) also returns later in the series as part of a frightening new alliance.

The Brig
OK, so it's not been the best-kept secret but The Brigadier (Nicholas Courtney) - fan favourite from the classic series - is making a special appearance (after an absence of almost 20 years) in the series finale. "I've seen Nick on and off over the years but he was so pleased to be asked back," says Elisabeth Sladen. "It's a lovely thing to do because he's spoken about doing it and I think that's really nice for the fans."
Of the character's return, she adds: "Sarah Jane doesn't really want to introduce the kids to UNIT, because they use guns. Sarah Jane doesn't think a gun is a good thing, not even as a last resort, so it must be pretty special to have to go to The Brig."

The finale
Maybe it's way too early to be thinking about exactly how this series will end, but I'm sure you'll appreciate the following hints, courtesy of the cast.
"I don't think it's a very steep cliffhanger but it's not a terrible ending," says Tom. "You're going to sit there and think 'I want to see what happens next'."
Anjli adds: "I like the ending because we've got a really nice combination of people and monsters. It's not just one monster either... we've got two different monsters who I don't think have been together before. They unite and form an evil pair."
The new series of Sarah Jane Adventures begins Monday, September 29 on BBC One and the CBBC Channel. Check back in next week for more news on the new series and our full interview with Elisabeth Sladen.

No More Sarah Jane on Sundays

The picture above was made by me

The BBC have now unfortunately decided to stop all repeats of the Sarah Jane Adventures on BBC One. It was announced not long ago that BBC One would be repeating the whole of Series 1, starting from Revenge of the Slitheen, on Sundays. They were having a double-bill of each story a week, but they've stopped them to make way for the repeat of BBC's New Drama, Merlin (see earlier post). Today's episode would have been the fourth story of series 1, Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane? but it no longer on. This seems strange that they are stopping it, as they were using this to build up to the start of Series 2, which will begin on 29th September, but, so it seems, Merlin is more important now. This hasn't stopped all repeats, as some are showing on CBBC next Saturday morning. If there are any further details regarding the matter, it will be posted. So, no episodes will be broadcast this afternoon. Sorry to those who were looking forward to it!

Canada Starts Series 4

The picture above was made by me

The fourth series of Doctor Who has now started airing in Canada! Last night saw the return of the fabulous Donna Noble, and saw the cute cuddly Adipose, in the first episode of series four, Partners in Crime. Voyage of the Damned has not yet been broadcast, and it is unknown at this stage whether or not it will be in the near future. The broadcasting channel is CBC, and you can visit their Canadian Doctor Who website here! All episodes will be broadcast on Fridays, and so next Friday evening, The Fires of Pompeii will be broadcasting to all of you Canadians out there. The next Friday after that will be Planet of the Ood and so on, if there isn't any change in scheduling times.
In other news, Russell T. Davies has stated that if there ever is going to be a Doctor Who movie, he would return writing for the show again! You can read more about this story here.

Christmas Special Title?

The title for the Christmas Special has been revealed in Russell T. Davies' new book, The Writer's Tale. He confirms it as 'The Next Doctor', but we don't yet know whether it is true. Davies might have written the book months back, or even before he had even wrote the special, so he might have just slipped it in to see what happens, but probably knew that he might change it. In the book, he put's the title as a caption to a picture of David Morrissey, who has been confirmed he will be in the special, and rumours have been spreading round lately as David Morrissey's Doctor running into his present incarnation. This is what the Sun say will happen:
“The Doctor arrives, hears a damsel in distress, he steps forward to save her when this other man swings in, dashing, brilliant, amazing, clever, witty, saves the day. The Doctor says: ‘Who are you?’ The man says, ‘I’m the Doctor!’ The Doctor becomes his companion. There will be a beautiful woman too, of course, but really it’s the Doctor paired with a new Doctor.”

This is becoming ever more likely due to all the speculation, and things starting to be leaked. Some may say that this is too close to the two Doctors we had at the end of last series. But, if true, does this mean that the Doctor is due to regenerate pretty soon. David Morrissey could be his eleventh body, or could be any other from his future. Who knows? You can see more about this news in a previous post here.

New Adventures Audio Set

A new audio set has been confirmed for release. The set is called 'New Adventures'. It contains three stories from the new series novels, previously released as books and separate audiobooks. You can see the cover of it above. The stories it contains are Martha in the Mirror (Justin Richards), Snowglobe 7 (Mike Tucker) and The Many Hands (Dale Smith). All the stories star the tenth Doctor and Martha. Here is a brief synopsis for each:
  • Martha in the Mirror sees the duo arriving at Castle Extremis, which is about to play host to the signing of a peace treaty. But not everyone wants the war to end. Who is the little girl who haunts the castle? Who is the hooded figure that watches from the shadows? And what is the secret of the legendary Mortal Mirror?
  • Snowglobe 7 is set on Earth in 2099, when global warming is devastating the planet. In a desperate attempt at preservation, the governments of the world have removed vast sections of the Arctic and Antarctic and set them inside huge domes. But a hidden threat has been preserved beneath Snowglobe 7...
  • The Many Hands finds the Doctor and Martha travelling back in time to eighteenth-century Edinburgh. The Nor' Loch is being filled in, officially because it's a stinking cesspool. But why are there so many whispered stories about the loch - stories about the Doctor, and the many hands of Alexander Munro?
All three are read by familiar people to Doctor Who. Freema Agyeman, who plays Martha Jones, is reading Martha in the Mirror. Georgia Moffett, who plays Jenny, the Doctor's Daughter, reads Snowglobe 7, and David Troughton, aka Professor Hobbes in Midnight, is reading The Many Hands. The set is due to be released on 9th October 2008, at the RRP price of £25.00, and will contain over seven hours of listening! Will you be buying the new audiobook set?

New Drama Merlin Starts Tonight

The first episode of the new drama from the BBC, Merlin, will be airing tonight across the UK on BBC One. The new programme will also be from BBC Wales, like Doctor Who. It is designed to be like Doctor Who and Robin Hood, fitting into the Saturday evening slot, at around 7pm. It stars many actors/actresses that have also played parts in past episodes of Doctor Who. The lead role, Merlin, is played by Colin Morgan, who also played Jethro in the Series 4 episode, Midnight. Other Who-related stars include Richard Wilson as Gaius, better known in who-world as Doctor Constantine, from the two-parter from Series 1, The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances. Anthony Head as Uther Pentragon (Arthur's Father), who played the headmaster Mr. Finch in Series 2 episode, School Reunion. Eve Myles as Mary Collins, who plays Gwen Cooper in Torchwood, and recently, Doctor Who. In Doctor Who, she appeared in the episodes The Stolen Earth and Journey's End. Plus Angel Coulby as Guinevere (Gwen), who played Katherine in The Girl in the Fireplace. Julie Gardner, an executive producer on Doctor Who, who is leaving, takes on the same role in Merlin as well. CGI special effects for the series were provided by The Mill, which had also worked on Doctor Who and its spin-offs. The first episode of the thirteen part run of Merlin will be on tonight at 7:30pm, on BBC One. Will you be watching?

Series 4 Soundtrack

Silva Screen Records have now confirmed the release of a new Doctor Who soundtrack! Rumours had been spreading round Who Forums lately, and now it is confirmed. It is the third soundtrack since 2005, and will contain various scores and memorable pieces from the fourth series. The first soundtrack had the music from Series One and Series 2, with pieces like the emotional Doomsday, to the sparky, Christmassy Song for Ten. The second soundtrack was out in November last year. It had music from Series 3, and included the fantastic The Doctor Forever, This is Gallifrey, the thrilling All the Strange Strange Creatures, as well as Voyage of the Damned's The Stowaway. Originally, the album was going to be combined with the Series 3 one, but there was such high demand for it last year, so they decided to make two. No exact details on the album have yet been released, but we're sure that the track list will be out very soon. We do know two tunes on it, from the cover. One will be Song for Freedom, the music in which we heard when the Tardis was pulling the Earth back into orbit at the end of Journey's End, and briefly in Planet of the Ood. The other will be a new version of The Doctor's Theme. This new version was heard at the Prom. It had a slightly different style to it, heard partly in Turn Left. The second half of the track will be the music we heard when the Doctor was running to save River Song, at the end of Forest of the Dead. Song for Freedom was a massive hit at July's Doctor Who Prom. The album is due out in November, and you can see the great cover for it below! The cover features a promotional picture of the Doctor and Donna running, with higher contrast, and new blue colours. All the music on the album is written by Murray Gold, played by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, and conducted by Ben Foster. What do you think of this new news, and do you like the cover?

Another Doctor?

You've probably realised by now that anything with a '?' in the title, will most likely be a new rumour from the Sun! They're at it again, with a new report on the Christmas Special, giving away the title, and talking about David Morrissey's version of the Doctor. According to the Sun, as the 'real' Doctor arrives in Victorian England, he is about to help someone in need, but then this 'new Doctor' comes in just before him to save the day.
“The Doctor says: ‘Who are you?’ The man says, ‘I’m the Doctor!’ The Doctor becomes his companion. There will be a beautiful woman too, of course, but really it’s the Doctor paired with a new Doctor.”
Isn't this just a little bit soon after the two Doctors at the end of last series? The title they gave for the special is 'The Next Doctor'. Of course, this is awful, and probably untrue again. In the same article it said that when Steven Moffat gets hold of the show in 2010, he would make it 'sexier', and that Kate Winslet turned turned down the role of the Doctor's wife last series! You can read the full article here, but be warned that these are rumours, and nothing has been confirmed!
Update: This rumour has now been confirmed as true, and you can read about that here!

CELEBRATE FOUR CENTURIES OF DOCTOR WHO MAGAZINE!

Doctor Who Magazine reaches its 400th issue in style, with EIGHT extra pages and an exclusive photoshoot with the Doctor himself, David Tennant!

“I bought the first issue, in 1979,” David tells DWM. “I just thought, at last! Why’s this not happened before now? I was delighted. I chose it as my order. I used to be allowed one issue a week.”
Could DWM run for another 400 issues?
“Well, that’s a long time. How many years are we talking?”
It’s been 29 years so far...
“Another 400 issues...” he considers. “You know, I’m tempted to say, ‘If the television series continues,’ but Doctor Who Magazine thrived when the series was nowhere to be seen, to be fair, so I can see no reason why it won’t run and run. But hopefully the series will be there with the magazine, side by side, all the way. That’s how it should be. Yeah, with me on the cover! Forever...”

ALSO IN THIS VERY SPECIAL ISSUE:
  • Executive producer Russell T Davies looks back over the last five years, in his most candid DWM interview ever.
  • An exclusive competition where YOU can win the chance to become a DWM reporter and go on the set of the TV series!
  • Sontarans! The Brigadier! And Creepy Clowns! Discover what dangers lie ahead for the Bannerman Road gang as DWM talks to writer Phil Ford and previews the brand new series of The Sarah Jane Adventures.
  • DWM celebrates The Sheer Brilliance of Doctor Who as Gary Gillatt takes an affectionate look at just what makes Doctor Who the best TV show ever.
  • The Watcher casts a nostalgic eye over the last 400 issues as he charts the surprising, amusing and often bizarre history of Doctor Who Magazine.
  • “You were expecting someone else?” The Time Team get a shock as the Sixth Doctor himself, Colin Baker, joins them to watch the end of 1986’s epic adventure, The Trial of a Time Lord!
  • It’s the start of a brand new era for the comic strip as the Doctor discovers a familiar face aboard a prison in space... Part One of Thinktwice is by Dan McDaid with art by Martin Geraghty.
  • Plus! Never-before-seen photos and behind-the-scenes info... and all you favourite features, including Production Notes, You Are Not Alone, Gallifrey Guardian, Reviews, Previews, Competitions... Russell Tovey - The Eleventh Doctor?

In Russell T. Davies' new book, The Writer's Tale, he talks about who he would want or like to see playing the eleventh Doctor. Although, when the tenth Doctor does regenerate into his eleventh self, Russell will have no say on who would take the lead role, he said that he would make 26-year-old actor, Russell Tovey, who played Midshipman Frame in Voyage of the Damned, his new incarnation! The small news has hit the media with a bang lately, after extracts from the book we're released, containing the information (fortunately, the Sun hasn't picked up on the story yet).
"...Also, Russell Tovey as Midshipman Frame, which is my favourite casting of the lot, because he's going to be huge, that man. He's amazing. I think I'd make him the Eleventh Doctor!"
Now what he said, in the quote above, it does sound as if he's saying it in a jokey way, and if he hadn't quit and was still making it in 2010, it is not necessarily who he would have actually put into the role, but that's not how the press took it. Can we make it clear that still nothing has been confirmed on David Tennant's leaving, or of the real eleventh Doctor, so these are again rumours. Tennant might well be very close to signing up for 2010 though. Although Steven Moffat will be taking over, and this most likely won't happen, what are your thoughts?
Please Comment! Thanks!

The Writer's Tale - More Info

Some more information has been released about the new book, The Writer's Tale, written by Russell T. Davies and Benjamin Cook, including a short excerpt, more signing places and page previews. You can read part of this short excerpt from the book below, and read the full article from The Times here;

BC: "Tell 'em that you'll stay on for three million quid and Freddie Ljungberg on a serving dish! Go on, just for a laugh. See what they say. You are probably right to decline, but were you tempted? Just a little bit tempted?"
RTD: "Tempted? To do a fifth series? Not for a second. Weird, isn't it? I'm going to go to bed and think that through, and wonder why that is exactly. I'm not sure. I think, really, it's because the option is untenable, because way back, around the time that we filmed Doomsday, we promised this course of action to David. And to each other. We decided that we'd have a fourth series (David's third), with a big ending, after which we'd take the show off air, just for a short while, apart from the odd special, so that we could have a breather, and a new production team could settle in, find its feet, and prepare for Series Five. And there's all sorts of other plans, for the future, but...I'm almost superstitious about putting things into print."
More signings have been released at various places, so here is the full-ish list. Both Russell and Benjamin should be appearing at all of them, unless they cannot make it;
- Wednesday, 8th October 2008, 6:00PM
   Waterstones (Piccadilly)
- Thursday, 9th October 2008, 12:00PM
   Waterstones (Birmingham High Street)
- Thursday, 9th October 2008, 6:00PM - 7:30PM
   Waterstones (Trafford Centre)
- Friday, 10th October 2008, 5:30PM
   Borders (Cardiff)
And lastly, here are four page previews from the inside of the book:

The Writer's Tale will be released on 25th September 2008. Not 29th, as previously reported. It will contain 512 pages and will be sold at the RRP price of £29.99. Will you be buying The Writer's Tale?
Enjoy!
