Series 4 Figures - New Wave

Character Options have released information and a picture about the second wave of Series 4 five inch figures. The new ones cover most of the second half of the series, like River Song and Davros. Previously, the first wave had been released, comprising of the 10th Doctor with a few Adipose, Donna Noble, with Planet of the Ood outfit, Ood Sigma, a Natural Ood, Sontaran Commander Skorr, Sontaran General Staal, Sontaran Trooper and the Pyrovile Priestess. Noew, a few more are confirmed for release, and the list of them can be seen below;

• Professor River Song (Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead)
  
• Vashta Nerada (Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead)
  
• Timelord (Strangely From Series 3: The Sound of Drums)

You can see a picture of all of the figures, including the old ones below. They are expected to be released later this year/early next year, with no confirmed date yet, and they will be sold at the RRP price of £7.99.

SFX Celebrate 45 Years!

SFX are celebrating the forty five years of time travel in style next month. Their next issue, issue 176, will be made avaliable with ten different cover designs. If you haven't already worked it out, each cover will feature a picture of the Doctor in one of his many incarnations. The issue features a special part, dedicated to the history of the show. 'On 23 November 1963, the world met the Doctor for the first time, when An Unearthly Child hit British television screens. Now 45 years and nine more incarnations of the Time Lord later, SFX is set to celebrate the anniversary of Doctor Who's launch in truly cosmic style.'

You might just have to choose your favourite Doctor for your issue, but if you're a large collector, you just might get all of them! That's if you're able to find them all, because you might have to go on a great hunt! The issue will also reveal the first details about this year's Christmas Special, The Next Doctor, thanks to Russell T. Davies talking exclusively to the magazine;

Russell T Davies gives us the first, exclusive word on this year’s hotly anticipated Christmas special (teasingly titled "The Next Doctor"). It sees a rematch between our time-travelling hero and emotionless enemies the Cybermen. "We needed a familiar enemy," shares Davies, who then tells us: "All our Christmas specials have been very different. It’s time to do a smaller, more intimate story – though having said that, the ending is ferociously huge..."

This is part of the interview with him, and also talks about a few things to do with the specials. Also, is massive rundown of Doctor Who’s 45 greatest, most iconic monsters, as decided by the SFX experts. Who will win – the Ice Warriors? The Ood? Or will the Daleks exterminate all opposition to claim their place as the supreme beings in the universe? There may be a surprise in store...

My Visit To The Literature Festival

Yesterday, I had the pleasure to go to the Cheltenham Literary Festival to go to see and meet Russell T. Davies and John Barrowman, so I'm going to put lots of nice pictures taken by me and some information about what I have heard (only parts I can remember, bear in mind) in this post. Below I'm going to bullet point this interesting information, and below that are the pictures I took, so I hope you enjoy the various different points and pics!

• CIN Competition - When talking about the Children In Need competition, Russell T. Davies mentioned with John Barrowman that it was going to be 'a good laugh' showing everyone about. He said, pointing left and right, 'Here we have a Cyberman, and here we have the Tardis' etc.
• Doctor Who Theme Park - 'I'd love it, it would be great!' They happened to mention plans for a Doctor Who Theme Park. This is not necessarily that there WILL be one, but they were saying that they'd really like one. I mean, why not? They talked about spinning Tardis rollercoasters and such.
• RTD On Tovey - Russell said that it was late at night on one day, when he was emailing Benjamin Cook for The Writer's Tale, and he just randomly put the fact in, saying that he would like Russell Tovey as the next Doctor. He did not at all expect that when a few extracts were let out, that it was going to make massive headlines! Apparently, it's only because he fancies him! Tovey was very suprised by the whole thing, probably a bit embarassed as well!
• Favourite Episode - Russell didn't like to say what his favourite episode was, except that he was suprised by the way Gridlock came out. He was 'amazed that it was ever broadcast on TV'! John's favourite episode is Rose, as the Autons were in it, which sacred him a lot when he was a child!
• Which Show? - One cheeky soul asked John which show he liked more; Doctor Who or Torchwood. He said Torchwood, as it is 'his show', even though Doctor Who still has a very soft spot in his heart, and he used to watch loads of them when he was younger. Apparently, when he got the part as Captain Jack, he ran and jumped off a wall, when a nearby I think neighbor asked him why he was so happy. John replied at the top of his voice 'I've got a part in DOCTOR WHO!!!!!!!!' The lady then toddled off saying 'yes dear...'
• Favourite Doctor? - John was asked this one. His Classic Series favourites are Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker, as those were the ones he grew up with, and from the new Series, David Tennant, who is probably also his all-time favourite, but he wanted Classic Series favourites as well. He also fancies David. What is it with these men?
• The Unnamed Monsters - In Torchwood Series 2, can you remember the unnamed monsters that attacked Jack's home planet. Russell had originally thought up of a name, but didn't sound right, so just kept them unnamed, so was mysterious. He mentioned that a good monster name is the Four Five Six, and could be the name for the new monsters in Torchwood.
• Kites, Hula Hoops and Skipping Ropes - Apparently, backstage of Torchwood when the cast are not filming, they have fun playing with Kites, Hula Hoops and Skipping Ropes! What a great atmosphere!
• Is Russell's Time At An End? - He would like the specials to be the last time he writes for Doctor Who, but he doesn't know what the future holds. Anything could happen!
• So Why Isn't David Tennant Ever On Torchwood? - A very simple question to answer! If David Tennant was ever on Torchwood, that would mean that children would make their parents stay up to watch. This has two negative points. One, because the show is past watershed (9pm) and so children are supposed to be in bed, and Two, because there is too much violence and swearing. Point taken?
• Russell Hasn't A Clue About The Next Doctor! - It's all up to Steven Moffat for the future now, it's all in his hands. Russell does not know at all who will play the next Doctor, and doesn't want to. He says this is the first time in ages that he will sit down a watch Doctor Who, when it's new, and on the first time, an so he is really excited!
• Here Come The Girls - Why female companions? If you think about it, on television, is is mainly the male actors dominating a show, so Doctor Who wants to take that, and turn it into a show where it's all equal and family-warming, so having mostly female companions balances the deal.
• Merchandising - Believe it or not, in fact RTD does actually have a lot of influence in merchandising, so he has to check whether a figure is too tall or short, and if their hair is right!
• A Royal Cameo - A small point that has hit the press just after Sunday is that Prince Charles turned down the offer of making a cameo apperance in Doctor Who. RTD said that he was a 'miserable swine', and he 'turned us down'!
  
• The Last Special... - Well, it may be a long time away, but Russell has got all the specials planned out inside his head. He knows what's going to happen at the ned of the last special next year, and was asked if he knew the last line. He didn't, but he said he knew the second to last!

The Next Torchwood Villain?

Recent rumours have been flying around about the new monster or villain for Torchwood. This should be for next year's series, entitled Children of Earth, and we think that there might be more than one evil being. We're beginning to have suspicions of a character played by Liz May Brice. In recent photos, mostly taken on the set of the explosion of the Torchwood Hub, she is dressed in a militaristic-looking uniform. In the pictures, she is standing over the exploded material, and is thought to be 'hunting down Torchwood'. She looks like she wants to get rid of them, but unfortunately for the team, they've got much worse things on their mind. At first, people thought that she was a new member of the Torchwood team, as she was dressed very similar, and looked important, but now it seems that she has ordered the hub destruction! According to the Sun, she is a 'shady government agent' and is named as 'Johnson'.

7 For Needy Children

As previously reported, there is likely to be a Special Doctor Who Episode for this year's Children In Need Event. Originally, it was thought that Doctor Who and Torchwood were going to have a crossover, but recent reports have said stated different information regarding the matter. Newspaper Sources such as the Sunday Mirror and News of the World, have latched onto a story, in which the seven surviving actors who play the Doctor; Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann, Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant. They will all reprise their roles, and hop back onto the Tardis set for a one-off special. In the past, there have been other stories in which multiple Doctors get together, like The Two Doctors or The Five Doctors. Just last year did Peter Davison come back, in Children In Need. You will probably think then that these are just rumours, but it has also been mentioned in the Daily Telegraph, which, in itself, is actually a very reliable source. Although it was just printed in a very small area, it could still mean it is true. Here is an extract from one source;

The actors are getting together for the BBC charity Children in Need in a programme to be broadcast on November 14.
An insider at the BBC said: "It's a pretty ambitious idea and it's still being finalised. Everything is being kept under wraps but Doctor Who fans are in for a big treat."
The first of the 10 actors to take the role was William Hartnell in 1963, followed three years later by Patrick Troughton and then by Jon Pertwee but all three have since died.
The seven survivors include Tom Baker, now best known as the voice of the comedy series Little Britain, who played the role for seven years from 1974.
He was followed by Peter Davidson from 1981 to 1984, whose daughter Georgia Moffett has also featured in the programme and who is now dating the current doctor, David Tennant.
The others are Colin Baker, from 1984 to 1986, Sylvester McCoy who had two stints from 1987 to 1989 and re-appeared in the role in 1996, Paul McGann, who took over the role in 1996 and Christopher Eccleston who reprised the series in 2005.

Secrets of the Stars Part 2 - Synopsis

The synopsis for the second part of Secrets of the Stars, from the second series of The Sarah Jane Adventures, has been released today. Not long ago, the synopsis of the first part was released. It is the third story, episode four of this series, and follows the first episode of the same story. The second part of it will first air on the CBBC channel on 27th October at 5:15pm, and then it will properly start on BBC One on 3rd November at 4:35pm. You can view this synopsis below;

As Trueman begins to take over the world's population through their star signs, Clyde takes a big gamble to help Sarah Jane, Luke and Rani into the astrologer's inner circle, as the children's drama series, produced by Russell T Davies, continues.
But when Sarah Jane's plan to defeat Trueman fails, who will be Earth's last hope to overcome the Ancient Lights?

The Day Of The Clown Part 1 - What Did You Think?

The third episode of Series 2 of The Sarah Jane Adventures was shown today on BBC One. This was the first part of The Day Of The Clown, and was shown at 4:35pm. Wasn't the clown scary?! What did you think of new girl, Rani, and what's this strange mystery of the Pied Piper? It can't be true, can it? If you missed the episode, or would like to watch it again, if you haven't recorded it you can see it here on iPlayer. But what did you think? Say what you thought of the episode in the comments or in the chat box, and vote on the poll. If you were lucky enough to have digital viewing (like me!), then you would have seen the second part of the story, but I won't say anything about that just yet on here for those of you who don't want to be spoiled! Cardiff Exhibition - Closed For Revamping

The Doctor Who exhibition in Cardiff is now closed, so you will not be able to enter. The exhibition is having a revamp, which is costing ten thousand pounds! It opened back in winter 2005, was only meant to last two months, but it was popular enough that it has remained opened to today. The new refurbishment will take place until 19th October, and will be closed to the public for that time. There will be many new displays, including three new Daleks, with the red Supreme Dalek. For the Daleks, there will be a 'Dalek Zone', similar to the one at Earl's Court in London that features Dalek Sec, with two normal Daleks. The revamp was much needed, and they say that it will be bigger and better than ever! So, don't take a day out there until Monday!

Top Trumps Series 4 Book - Info

As previously reported, a few months ago, a new upcoming Top Trumps book is planned for release. Two books have previously been released; the first one covered the first set, which was Series 1 and 2, and the second one was the second set, covering Series 3. This new one is for the latest set, Series 4, and includes many of the Doctor's friends and enemies from the latest series. The cover to the left is the first draft, which was released ages ago, but is subject to change, because it is not very good. Below is the official press release;

The Day Of The Clown - Tomorrow

A reminder to tell you that The Day Of The Clown, the second story of the second series of The Sarah Jane Adventures will be airing tomorrow on BBC One and the CBBC channel. The first part will be broadcast at 4:35pm on BBC One and the second part will come next week on the same channel, but you can view it a week earlier if you're a digital viewer on the CBBC channel, at 5:15pm. This story features a scary clown haunting new girl across the road, Rani! Rani Chandra will be the 'new Maria', and sort of take her place, but as a different character. Will you be tuning in tomorrow?

Inside Who World

There is going to be a very special event held in London next month for the Children's Film Festival. Held at the Barbican in London, the team behind Doctor Who will be presenting an event called Inside the World of Doctor Who. It will be held on Saturday 29th November 2008, and you should be expecting to have a great time, and even see some special guests (possibly actors/actresses from the show). There will also be clips and trailers from this year's Christmas Special, The Next Doctor.

Expect to see some iconic monsters, talk to the programme makers, get behind-the-scenes gossip from series creator Russell T Davies, and see a sneak preview of snippets from this year's Christmas special.
